Solar estimate for a spot the camera can see
Yard Sun Map can't read your panels, your inverter or your meter, and a Ring camera rarely sees a roof. What it can do is estimate how much the shade it sees would cost panels placed on squares you pick: a ground mount, a spot you're considering, or panels that happen to be in view. It's an estimate for a clear day, worked out from the sun's position for your ZIP code and how often the camera saw direct sun on those squares.
Your data
Yard Sun Map keeps: your email and ZIP code; for each camera, a coarse 48 by 27 brightness map of the scene (the colours of its surfaces), how often each square was in sun at each hour, and the most recent daylight snapshot, shown behind your map. Every other snapshot is analysed the moment it arrives and is not kept. Deleting removes all of it, for every camera, immediately.
